Settings

What is this?

Settings are split into two tabs: Organization (organization-wide configuration, only visible and editable with the org:settings permission) and My settings (purely personal, reachable by every member regardless of their own role).

How to use it

  • Organization: General (master data), status configuration, calendar/scheduling mode, test object and station types, device types, reports (design and defaults), webhooks, and API. If you don't see this tab, you don't have org:settings — Settings then goes straight to "My settings".
  • General: Company name, address, optional contact email/phone, and company logo. This information appears in the sidebar/header (logo) as well as in the header/footer of PDF reports (company name, address, contact in the automatic footer) — a custom footer under "Reports" replaces the automatic text entirely.
    • Sidebar and header display: Controls whether the sidebar/header show logo and company name, logo only, or company name only (default: both). If "Logo only" is selected but no logo is uploaded, the company name is shown anyway — navigation never ends up blank.
    • Default language: Interface language (German/English) for members who haven't chosen a personal language under "My settings" → "Appearance". Anyone who picks one there overrides this default personally and across devices.
    • Units: A preselection of common measurement units (V, °C, mm, kg, …) offered as a dropdown when creating numeric properties for stations, test objects, and equipment. Custom units can be added here and removed again; the list applies organization-wide across all three type editors.
  • Status configuration: For each of the fixed test statuses (Pending, In progress, Passed, …) only the display label and color can be changed — the statuses themselves (keys and flow) are fixed in the system and can neither be renamed nor added here; the status flow is described in testsequenzen. Two additional colors are available for milestone markers (pending/reached).
  • Client portal links are managed directly on the respective project's detail page (the "Client portal" button) — there is no separate settings section for this anymore.
  • My settings:
    • Appearance: Menu position — sidebar on the left with icon rail (default) or navigation in the header. Only applies on wide screens; on mobile there is always the tab bar at the bottom and the menu icon (☰) in the top left (see navigation). Also the personal interface language (German/English) — without a personal choice, the organization's default language applies. The quick language switcher in the header menu changes the same setting.
    • Notifications: Personal choice of which events reach you via in-app and email notification.
    • Reports: Personal defaults for the report dialog (see below) — usable regardless of your own role.
    • Connected apps: AI apps and agents (Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, …) you've given access by signing in (OAuth) — with organization, role and last use; "Disconnect" revokes access immediately (see agent-tokens).
  • Report defaults (organization and user): Both levels offer a selection of the fields from the report dialog at generation time — pre-set interim, scope (brief/standard/full/custom) including section selection, where test case photos appear (directly on the test case page or in an appendix), chart settings (resolution, grouping), and status filter. Title, customer details, sequence/station filters, per-channel chart time ranges, freetext sections, and section order are deliberately left out — those differ per report and don't make sense as a "default".
    • "Use organization defaults": On "My settings" → "Reports", this toggle is on by default — the report dialog then starts pre-filled with the organization's defaults. Only once you turn it off do you maintain your own defaults that may differ from the organization's.

Common issues

  • "I don't see an Organization tab." You're missing the org:settings permission — only Admin and Owner have it. Your own settings remain reachable regardless.
  • "My report defaults don't take effect." Check whether the "Use organization defaults" toggle under "My settings" → "Reports" is turned off — while it's on, the organization's defaults always apply, regardless of any previously saved personal values.
  • "Where is user management?" It's its own standalone page — see benutzerverwaltung.
