Milestones

What is this?

The milestone overview shows every milestone across all projects — recently completed and upcoming ones, including status. New milestones can be created directly here; editing, marking as reached, or deleting still happens within the project.

How to use it

  • Create: "Create milestone" at the top of the page — project, name, initials, description, and due date in one dialog, without switching to the project first.
  • Status column: Reached (green), Overdue (red, due date in the past and not yet reached), or Planned.
  • Planned target date: The target date frozen at the last plan approval — stays fixed even if the due date is moved afterwards. Shows "–" if the plan was never approved.
  • Dependency (automatic completion): When creating/editing a milestone in the project, you can optionally pick a sequence or a single test case as a dependency. Once that sequence or test case passes, the milestone is marked as reached automatically — no manual click needed.
  • Views: "Upcoming" shows open milestones with a due date, sorted ascending — overdue ones (due date in the past, not yet reached) come first and are marked in red. "Recently completed" shows reached milestones, newest first.
  • Group: The "All" / "By project" toggle groups the rows under their project heading instead of one flat list.
  • Filter: By project, via the dropdown above the list.
  • Edit: Clicking a milestone or its project heading opens the project — that's where you adjust the milestone, mark it reached, or delete it.
  • Planned/actual in the schedule: In the project's schedule, each milestone has a planned date (due date) and, once reached, a separate actual date (when it was actually reached). Clicking the milestone diamond opens a menu with "Move" (change the planned date) and "Change status" — that's where you set the actual date, defaulting to today but also backdatable. "Mark as open" undoes a reached milestone.

Common issues

  • "A milestone without a due date is missing from the overview." Intentional: "Upcoming" needs a date to sort by. Without one, the milestone only remains visible in the project itself.
  • "I can't edit a milestone directly here." The overview is intentionally read-only — editing happens in the project, where the schedule context is also visible.
